Okay guys, as much as I hate having to make so many rules, there are a few that we would like you to uphold. And there will be penalties for not following these rules. They're pretty simple so they shouldnt be at all hard to follow!
Out of Character Rules: 1. Chat Speak. Things like "brb", "bbl", "lol", and "wtf" are fine, but we dont tolrate ppl who takl liek dis, so plz dont takl liek dis, kay? See how annoying it is? None of that please! Grammar is an important part of this whole thing and by now, if you dont know how to spell, you're not old enough to role play.
2. Appropriate Posting. Out of character posts are strictly appropriate. No one wants to see nude pictures or hear about your sex life, so keep it to yourself or you can feel free to leave.
3. Respect One Another. Respect is a big thing around here. Treat others like you would want them to treat you and dont bully them.
4. Graphics. As much as we love the fact that you choose to use awesome graphics to show off your characters, we hate when graphics stretch our board. So as a rule, character icons can be no larger than 100x100 pixels. And signatures can be no more than 300 pixels tall and 500 pixels wide. If graphics are found that are larger than those limits, staff will take them off of the site.
5. Privacy in the Site. You know those people that go around sharing their personal information all willy-nilly? Yeah, that's not allowed here. We dont want to see your personal info at all, and if you DO decide to give it out even though we tell you not to, dont come crying to us when some sick bastard comes to your door to visit.
Registration Rules: 1. Character-Account Ratios. We love that you want to make more than one character but you cant hold all of your characters on one account. Furthermore, this rule implies that there will be one character per account. So if you want to make multiple characters, you have to make multiple accounts.
2. Character-Character Ratios. You can have as many characters as you want here so long as you keep them active and log them in as many times a week as you can. But as far as Canons and Originals/Adopted characters go, for every three characters you have, at least one must be adopted or canon. Also, please make sure that the female to male character ratios are even!
3. Time Limits. For Original Characters (ones that you make up completely yourself) and Canon Characters (ie; Damon Salvatore, Stefan Salvatore, Elena Gilbert, etc.,), there are no time limits on characters. Although, Canon characters are in high demand, so I would like the final result of your application in roughly two and a half weeks. If you need more you can have that time, its just an estimation of what time I think it should be done in. But we do understand that things come up in the real world and you cant always get on the computer and work on them when somethings up. Take my time suggestion into mind. Just be warned, if the admins deem you've taken too long (as in, if you take three months finishing a character) they will deny your application, put the canon character up for adoption and so on.
4. [WIP]. Its important that--if you have an application for a character you arent quite finished yet--you put [WIP] in the subject title so we know that we arent to look it over yet.
5. "DONE!". In the above rule, we said that you're supposed to put [WIP] at the end of your subject title if you're not done your subject. But when you ARE done, dont put [DONE] in any form at the end. Once you take out the add in of the above, we will know that you're application is done. You dont need to tell us. And please dont nag at us constantly. We are busy people and we will get to it when we can.
6. Perfection. No one is perfect in reality, therefore there will be no perfect characters on the site. Even Damon Salvatore has a weakness beyond his sarcastic remarks and extreme good looks.
7. Posting IC. We appreciate your eagerness to start role playing on the site, but please dont start any IC posts until after your character has been officially accepted and you've done the claims!
8. Display Names. Display names when your character is accepted MUST be the characters first and last name. If you'd like you can make it first name, middle initial and last name but dont screw around with it!
In Character Rules: 1. Grammar. Please be literate. We're going to be grammar natzis so dont start with the chat talk in the middle of a post or mispell like every second word or not capitalize words at the beginning of sentences and letters of first names.
2. Third-Person. Posts are always to be written in third person. Unless it's your character's journal and then its okay to write in first person.
3. Word Count. The word count for the site is 250. But if someone goes through the trouble to make an agonizingly long post--say 1000 words--it isnt very respectful of you to ruin the effort they made and put down a 250 word post, so try to match the size of the post the other person makes.
4. Double Posting. We like that you want to post as much as you can but double-posting is not allowed, thank you!
5. Bunnying and Flaming. If you dont know what either of these are you most likely dont do it. Bunnying is belittling people so its understandable if you do it and not know what the term means. Just dont do either of these things okay?
6. God-Modding/Power-Playing. No ones perfect, no one can control the other characters they post with. Deal with it. Everyone has a weakness, every character can be hit. But no character can control the reaction of another, so dont do it.
7. Sex Scenes. Some of the plots that happen here will happen at the highschool in Mystic Falls. And of course if your characters an adult, there will most likely be sex. However no one wants to read every detail. We do follow PBS TOS so please just black out the post and move on to after the act.
C-Box/ICC Box Rules: 1. Have Fun. The c-box should be a place where you talk and enjoy the pleasure of each others company, so to speak. Dont mess it up for everyone else by being a downer.
2. OOC Only. The c-box is an out of character box on the main site. If you want to chat in character, there is the ICC (in character chat) box.
3. No Fighting. This is basically the same as in any other site. No conflict of any kind in the c-box. If you have something to say or a fight to pick with another member, take it to pm and include an admin so we can deal with it calmly and carefully. Dont ruin the c-box for everyone else by starting a fight.
4. No Spamming. Should be kind of self explanetory. We dont like spamming, therefore we wont tolerate it.
5. Swearing. We understand its sometimes needed, but try to keep the swearing to a minimum. Every second word that you post in the cbox should not be an F-bomb or any other swear.
6. Advertising. As much as we enjoy seeing your sites and such, advertising in the c-box is strongly prohibited. As in not allowed at all. The only time we will allow it is if you type the URL into the box beside the box where you type your c-box name in titled, "e-mail/url".
7. Names. Some of you may have noticed that in the C-box and ICC Box there is a requirement to put in a name before you post anything. When you're in the c-box, the name in the name box should be the first and last name of the character you are ICC-ing or ICR-ing as. For example if I went in with one of my characters to ICC or ICR with another persons character, I would type either "Elena Gilbert" or "Lilah Harper" into the name box.
8. Character Icons. Again, this is solely in character. So, if you're going to be in the ICC box, you have to have a picture of the play-by of the character you're using in the box. The average size of the icon should be 100x100.
9. OOC. Try to keep the out of character posts in the ICC Box to a minimum. But when you do have to post something ooc, [{(Post it in some sort of parenthesis)}]. Easy enough right?
10. In all, be nice and have fun. Best rule there is if I do say so myself.
Penalties: I told you before there would be penalties for disobeying the rules in anyway. So here they are:
Strike 1: At this point, the admins are feeling pretty generous and good about the fact that you havent really pissed them off aside from this. And even here you havent truly irritated them. So, they'll tell you what you did wrong, show you what to do or tell you not to do it again and send you on your way with a fair warning.
Strike 2: Now, the admins have a lot to deal with so people who reach their second strike kind of get irritating after a while. If they deem that you've reached your second strike, you'll get a three day ban from the c-box/ICC box, and the site itself. Just a temporary measure, I assure you. You'll also get a warning about it.
Strike 3: Ooooo, you're in trouble! The admins are super pissed now and heads will roll! On your third strike, if you're there, you musta really done something bad. Usually those who get to their third strike have tried to steal graphics or some such stupid thing that they say they cant help doing or whatever. By this strike, you'll have all of your accounts deleted, your character applications deleted from the applications and accepted boards, your play-by's put back up for adoption, your canon characters put back up as available on the canon list, everything about you taken off the site itself, really. Along with a permanent ban (as in FOREVER, people) from both the c-box and the ICC box along with the site itself.
That last penalty kind of sucks, dont it. Aside from that, all I have to say is please dont steal anything from the site either. Everything has been credited to whom made the thing, including the skin. The plot and history were made by me, the banner and admin graphics by owl. We prefer to keep our stuff, thank you.
